100 question math test

 Today for the 100 question math test i scored 66 in 10 minutes for multiplication and I didin't do the division test. Overall I think my next goal will be to try to get over 50 on both of them.

 A few days ago my math group had to make a slideshow about how much sides an faces have. me and my buddy did four shapes, a rhododendron, a cube, and square based pyramid and a diamond.

Athletics

 On Monday my school had athletics. The event consisted of middle distance, long and high jump, sprints, relays, shot put and discuss. Every class had a different timetable than other classes. My class did middle distance first, then discus and then break. After morning tea we had shot put and high jump which was optimal so I didn't do it, and then it was another break. After lunch we went off to do long jump and finally sprints,  which was also optimal but i did two races. And if you wanted to then you could set up a relay team and, along with the sprint finals, have a relay race against your year group. i'm really bad at relays so I didn't get into a team.

Why it is important to have good manners

 Here is a list on why it is good to have good manners

1; Having a classroom where everyone (or most) people has good manners.

Having a classroom where most people have good manners will lead to having a generally better time at school. Having good manners also helps make teachers jobs a lot more easier. It also helps the leaner because if you make a mess while eating then the cleaner will have to pick it up, but if you have good manners then you would either pick up the mess yourself or just don't make a mess at all.

2;  Bad language is not good to use at school

When bad language is used at school it makes other people who hear it feel not welcome, out of place and unsafe. once a child uses bad language for the first time will increase the chance that the child grows up to be more aggressive and use swear words more often.

Persuasive Writing

During the week we had to write a persuasive writing sample.

This writing sample was about being wrong to fight.

End Of Term Reflection

Tomorrow it the last day of the term. In this term i think i did pretty good with my literacy and math. one thing i need to improve on is  listening to instructions. next term i will improve even more on my math because i'm not very good at math. i learned about equivalent fractions and that 1/2 is that same as 4/8 or 8/16. In literacy i learnt about the dawn raids of 1970, the 1968 mexico Olympics and the springboks tour. the springboks tour was controversial  and why the mexico Olympics was controversial.

Fun Day

Today is a mufti day because half of my class went skiing. It was mufti day for us because of the token system we have in our school. The token system is when if the teachers catch you being good while on duty the they will give you a token, What you can do with that token is go into the office and put it in three boxes. The three boxes have a choice. and whatever box has the most tokens in it or it gets full, Then we get to do whatever was on that box. Some "rewards" include movie day, Activity day, mufti and disco.

Today for math my math group had to do some fractions. we learned that whatever number you times the top fraction you have to do to the bottom one to find an equivalent fraction

The 1968 Mexico Olympics

I had to write a personal opinion about the 1968 Mexico Olympics and why it was so controversial.  Here is the link to my work. The 1968 Mexico Olympics were controversial because first place, Tommy Smith and second place, John Carlos, did the black power salute in protest of racial discrimination in America. Racism was everywhere. Peter Norman an Australian was also on the medal dias.

 today in maths we learned how to order fractions from biggest to smallest

Today in maths i learned that if you put a line down the middle of the circle that both sides would be 1/2. and if you put another line through it all sides would be ¼. That's because if you color in one section of the circle then it would be ¼, if you colored in two more sides of the circle then it would be ¾.

Measurement

This term I have been learning about measurement.

So far I have learned that 1m is 100cm, 1 km is 1000m and that

10 mm is 1 cm and 1 km is 100,millimetres.

I think learning about measurement is very important and quite fun.

We learn about measurement in weird ways such as riding a bike as closest to 1m as we can,

drawing a line what we think will be a metre, drawing around our had to find out the area and measurement

and dropping a ruler while another person catches it and seeing how fast we can react,

and seeing how small of a number we catch it on.

today we were asked about what we think about the 100 question math test. i think that its a bad idea because it causes stress in me, so that makes me not try.

William Pike: Passion Project

For my Wpc Passion project I have been learning how to do volts over poles and flips over poles. also I have been learning how to climb smooth surfaces and pulling myself up bars or other things. so far i have completed half of my William Pike Passion Project

The weekend

On the weekend Me and my friend Brandon went to flip out.
We left home at 1:30 and got there at 2.
when we got there and finished putting our socks on
we headed to the tramp
where there is that big ledge and a smaller one.
Once we were done we headed over to the area where it has the
triangles and
the gym mats.
We threw foam at each other for a bit, then we, finally at the end
went to the foam
pit.

My first day at tech

Today was my first day back at tech. We made Chocolate chips and m&m cookies. They were really tasty. we made bags in fabrics too.

The daily timetable part 2

Today was my second week back at school. Last week I took Thursday and Friday off because I had a cold.  While we haven't been at school for long literacy has been fun so far. Normally we start with literacy in the morning, then we have a break and morning tea, then it's math until the next break, when lunch break is over it's lunch time. Then we go into activity time where you get a choice of bikes, art, etc.

What happened next is a shorter beak then the others, then finally it's the last block of the day, silent reading.  Silent reading is probably everyone's favorite block because it leads straight to home time. Before home time we have a pack up. Groups of kids get released first. The kids with younger siblings who get picked up go firdt then its the people who have siblings that walk. Finally people who get picked up or walk home go last. So there it is, the almost daily timetable

100 question maths test

Today my maths group did, for the 6th time a one hundred question maths test. my score was 86 and my time was 10 mins. I inproved my score by doing the 10 times, the 2 times and the 5 times first.

Camp 2020

Last Thursday my class went on camp to Spencer Park. We had to get there by walking along the beach for seven kilometres, on the track in Bottle Lake Forest for 2 kilometres and for 1 kilometre we walked on a boardwalk. It was a two day camp that we had to set up tents and cook on our own. My group conisted of me and Brandon for the tent, and for the cooking group it was me, Brandon and Jeneva. We made Macaroni and cheese. I think it needed less water, because it tasted like it was 95% hot water and cheese sauce.

The maths test

Last week our maths group did a 100 question multiplication test. Today we did it again. I did not inprove that much.

What the morning routine is

In the morning we get one hour of free time. it lasts from 8:00 to 9:00. When it turns 9"00 the bell plays over our speakers. After we are all inside the class a teacher puts some handwriting up on the board. after that the swimmers go over to the pool and do laps. there is a one length group, a four length and a ten length group. I am in the four length group. meanwhile, back at class the non-swimmers have to do a tyre run. after the swimmers come back all of us do silent reading for thirty minutes. when that is over its break time for thirty-five minutes. when the thirty-five minutes are over we come in for morning tea.

The maths test

Today my maths group did A 100 question multiplacation test. The test was also timed for 10 minutes. the goal was to finish the test in 5 or less minutes. Since i'm not good at times tables I did not do well, my score was 49. my goal is to get under 10 min next time

Zumba Friday #2

Zumba friday

Today we did Zumba for kids as part of our fitness program. its a dance channel that teaches you to dance. i didn't really enjoy it because i'm not really a dancer but people who do like to dance or move around i'd try it out.

Technology: Our fist lesson

Every Thursday our class and the other senior class go on a bus to Linwood College where we learn varrious skills that will help us in the future.  my group's class went to the fabrics room and the cooking room. Both of those are really fun. In cooking class we made a quesadilla  and  carrot raisin salad mixed with orange juice. Inside the quesadilla there was chicken carrot cheese and pesto sauce. And in fabrics we just did book work witch was kind of fun but others found it really boring.

The first week back...

The first week back at school is not always the most productive but that's because we don't really get much work. Our class has done some activites. The first thing we did was: we had to line up in dates of birthday, once the class finished that we were assigned to one of three groups led by a teacher. The group i was put into learned coding.
